what is PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds this post is aimed at people who now nothing about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds that have always been curious hopefully will serve as good starter guide for you so as per the what is series i'm going to link as many useful resources into the description box below including to the official website to this trailer to the wikipedia page and i also did a what is video of what is pubg mobile which i will link separately so which is a mobile version of this ame so pub g is a short version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Player Unknown battlegrounds is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by pubg corporation a subsidiary of south korean game developer blue hall or blue hole i should say um the game is based on previous mods that were created by bendan player unknown green for other games inspired by the 2000 japanese film battle royale and expanded into a standalone game under green's creative direction in the game up to 100 players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to attack others while avoiding getting attacked themselves the available safe area of the game's map decreases in size over time directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters the last player or team standing wins around okay so the idea is simple i've covered power rail games before on this channel so simply is you're thrown into arena last man standing because that's what it used to be called back in the day it was always called last man standing but it's been popularized now as battle royale.
it's something that's uh i caught on these days and the idea simply is eliminate everyone before they eliminate you last man stands wins and the higher you are in the ranking the more points you will get there is customizable outfits so the more rewards you get the more um points you get the more um accessories outfits and stuff you can buy to make yourself look different but the outfits don't give you any advantage um in battle in fact if you decide to run around in a brightly colored clown costume um it you'll probably actually not do yourselves any favor and there is also a cash shop so you can buy even more cosmetics as you go so but it depends really if you enjoy this game now um noclip which is a youtube channel made a really good documentary about the creation of player on battlegrounds they interviewed the guy behind it brendon green they explained the history about how he came up with the idea how it was developed as first a modern day z and then it became its own thing and so on and uh when this game came out it exploded all over uh live streaming channels it really did so and because of uh big streamers such as shroud jumping onto games like this um it helped the game to propel to just crazy levels of um let's say popularity at the time.
Now since then there's been a lot of other battle royale games there's most noticeably fortnight there's apex legends um even csgo created their own battle royale and so on so there's now many many many because uh simply all the other developers saw how much um how popular the battle royale genre was and uh since then most of the games that are in the battle royale um let's say genre uh have fallen into this free-to-play category because these games tend to be very popular uh with the younger crowd so because of the fact that they're free maybe all their school friends are playing it and so on so they want to jump in as well and uh also as well there's a call of duty war zone which i've covered on this channel there's so many battle royales now and i'm sure that more and more going to keep getting released as time goes on now the way that they do the rankings to keep the rankings fresh is every couple of months there is a new season so at the end of each season or beginning of a new season all the rankings are reset to the beginning and you have to rank up again but as an incentive for doing that they give new rewards for the new season.
Maybe new upgrades new maps new whatever which is a typical idea behind uh most battle royale games at this point now uh what sets out play on our battlegrounds from the other but bar rails you might see is the weapon customizations so you can pick up uh different clips different grips for your weapons different sites different many things but you find them randomly scattered throughout the map also as well you see that guy's got a frying pan if you manage to hit some of the frying pan you basically instantly kill them because it's your own fault for not uh paying attention um so and what was funny as well is that the frying pan can actually deflect bullets uh randomly.
if it just happens to hit you there and there is no um limit on the distance that a bullet is fired so for example i think literally someone just once shot a sniper and it hit someone more than 3 000 meters away by accident uh which is the record so yeah now a game like this it's not for everyone you know especially people on my channel because i know people on my channel prefer rpgs for example um but i had more and more fun the more i played the game especially the mobile version of the game because um there's a lot more reward when you win it feels a lot more satisfying but at the beginning you won't know what to do you won't know where to go you'll run through the open area and get picked out by a sniper and so on but as you become more cautious you also find which weapon loadouts work better for you and so on um and as you learn your way through the game it becomes more and more satisfying right even to a non-barrier player like myself so i would recommend this game and they have since switched to a free-to-play model as well you can play the game for free.
